Capers are expensive so I was very happy to come across this recipe using nasturtium seeds. They do not taste exactly like capers but have a goodness all of their own. *harvested green seeds of nasturtium plants
*2 cups of white wine vinegar
*1 medium onion finely sliced
*2 cloves of garlic crushed
*20-30ml of sugar
*15ml of pickling spice (can be found on market shelf)
*10ml dill or fennel seeds
*pinch of salt
-Heat the vinegar, onion, garlic, salt and spices till boiling.
-Add the green seeds and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
-Preserve for future usage in sterilised glass jars.
